How to Play (Instructions)
- 1
Spot It in a Split Second
This game tests your visual perception and reflexes. You must quickly identify the direction of the gap in a "C" shape that appears briefly on the screen and respond immediately. You need to make calm, accurate judgments even amidst the confusion of randomly shuffled response buttons.
- 2
Rules
A "C" shape will appear on the screen; determine which direction the gap is facing (up, down, left, or right) and click the corresponding arrow key or on-screen button. Speed and accuracy in selecting the correct direction are key.
- 3
Shuffling and Time Limits
The response buttons are shuffled randomly each time, so you must identify the direction rather than relying on button position. Additionally, the "C" shape disappears after just a few seconds, requiring a quick response before it vanishes.
Cognitive Functions You Will Train
Training Instant Visual Recognition and Processing Speed
This game trains instant visual recognition (the ability to accurately capture fleeting visual information) and processing speed (the ability to instantly interpret visual input and act on it). Players must accurately identify the direction of the gap in a "C" shape—displayed only for a split second—and provide the answer before it disappears. Additionally, because the answer buttons are shuffled each time, the game simultaneously engages inhibitory control (the focus required to judge based solely on direction rather than being distracted by button position) and working memory (the ability to hold visual information in mind while formulating an answer). Repeated play can lead to improvements in split-second decision-making and attentional skills.
